Howe’s Horticulture [Bill and Pauline]
We are a small market garden/nursery business based in Tutshill nr Chepstow, at the southern tip of the Wye valley, specialising in growing flowers outdoor s and in tunnels from March to early November. We have been growing cut flowers since 1997; we also grow bedding and vegetable plants.
Our season starts with anemones and a range of Daffodils including several scented varieties. These are followed in the spring by Tulips, Iris and Scented Pinks. Summer sees the arrival of many different flowers some of the most popular being Alstroemeria, Asters, Dahlias, Godetia, Statice and Sunflowers. Our range of Chrysanthemums heralds the autumn.
We sell our flowers direct from our market garden via a roadside stall, at Chepstow and Usk Farmers’ Markets and to order. Pauline, with her artistic flair, specialises in preparing mixed bunches and seasonal bouquets.
Bill gives talks on growing cut flowers to Garden Clubs/Horticultural Societies and has written a guide on growing cut flowers, for the keen amateur gardener, which is available at £10 plus p&p. A revised and extended edition will soon be available- ‘The Cut Flower Guide- Growing for Profit’ at £12 plus p&p.
